Product and capabilities
What is GenDocX?
GenDocX is an AI agent centered on Word documents. You can describe tasks in conversation, provide templates and source materials, and have the agent generate or revise documents — then check the files it produces.
What can GenDocX do?
Common tasks include generating Word documents, filling templates, following the style of other documents, revising existing documents, handling some layout problems, and turning supported text formats into Word. Specific capabilities depend on the current version and the input files.
How long does it take to generate a document?
The time depends on the number of files, content length, layout complexity, and task requirements. Simple tasks may finish quickly; tasks with many materials or complex formatting usually take longer. Check the result after generation rather than judging quality by speed alone.
Do I need to install software?
GenDocX is used through the browser. After logging in you can submit tasks in the chat workspace; whether other software is needed afterwards depends on how you view, edit, or handle internal processes.
Files and documents
Which file formats can I upload?
Follow the formats and size limits listed in the current upload interface. Document tasks may involve DOCX, PDF, Excel, Markdown, plain text, or images, but not every format, archive, or scan is guaranteed to parse fully in every task. Verify key fields manually.
Do I need a template or placeholders?
Not necessarily. You can upload an ordinary Word document as a template and explain what information to fill in. Clear field labels, table structures, and context help identify fill-in areas, but you should still check detection and fill results.
Will the original formatting be preserved?
GenDocX processes Word content and formatting according to the task, but pagination, fonts, images, tables, and headers/footers in complex documents can be affected by the file structure and font environment. Check the layout after generation; if certain elements must not change, say so explicitly in your instructions.
How are signatures and seals handled?
Explicitly require signature, seal, handwritten-date, and fingerprint areas to be preserved, and do not have the system generate or imitate real signatures or seals. Check these areas afterwards and handle them through the real-world process.
Compared with other tools
How is GenDocX different from general-purpose AI assistants?
General AI assistants can also help write and analyze content. GenDocX focuses on organizing the workflow around Word files: given the files and the task requirements, the goal is to generate or modify the actual document — not just return a chunk of text you still have to copy and format by hand. Compare each product’s current capabilities on your actual tasks.
How is GenDocX different from general-purpose AI agents?
General AI agents typically cover a wider range of tasks; GenDocX focuses on generating, editing, and delivering Word documents. If your main work is handling existing Word files, templates, and layout, compare file operations, editing, version comparison, and review capabilities in particular.
How is GenDocX different from mail-merge tools?
Traditional mail merge usually relies on predefined fields and structured data; various document-automation platforms may also offer approval, signing, or contract-management features. GenDocX’s main interaction is describing the task in natural language and providing Word files and related materials. When choosing a tool, compare field mapping, template control, approval, signing, and editing needs point by point.
Data security
Is my data secure?
Before uploading files, read GenDocX’s current data-handling and privacy policies to understand how data is transmitted, stored, retained, and deleted, and whether it is processed by third-party services. Do not upload highly sensitive or unauthorized materials before confirming your organization’s policies and the product terms.
Where are my files stored?
The specific storage location, retention period, access controls, and deletion methods should follow the current product privacy policy and account settings. After finishing a task, clean up files you no longer need and follow your organization’s data-management requirements.
Account and billing
Is there a free plan?
Available plans, free quotas, and trial conditions may change — check the current pricing page on the website or the plan information shown in your account.
What happens when I reach the usage limit?
After reaching a plan limit, available operations may be restricted. Check the usage notices and plan description in your account to see when quotas reset and whether an upgrade is needed.
Can I change plans?
Follow your current account settings and subscription terms; confirm upgrade, downgrade, effective-time, renewal, and refund rules before acting.
How do I get an API key?
Only when your current account and plan offer API functionality will there be a key-management entry point. Check the product interface or official developer docs; never share API keys publicly or commit them to public repositories.
